Campervan help please!:)
Hi all!
My boyfriend and I are heading to Sydney mid March, we are then spending a month travelling up the east cost to just above Cairns (venturing inland at various points). We seem to be finding it really tricky deciding on a campervan hire company. We have read some very negative reviews regarding campervan hire companies. After much research we were thinking Around Australia Motorhomes would be the best option however they take forever to answer any emails so now looking at Berlitz.... looking at hiring a hi top campervan.
Does any one have first hand experience with any of the campervan hire companies you would recommend or know of which ones we should definitely avoid?

I would stick to the main ones - Britz, Apollo, Maui etc. For the simple reason if anything goes wrong they are more likely to be able to fix it faster than the others.
Having said that I have not used any of them here. We own our own camper.
Have you considered something like:
https://www.transfercar.com.au/
Again we haven't used them but they do cheap one way campervan relocations.
You will probably be charged extra for a one way hire.
When you get here buy the book Camps Australia Wide 7
http://www.campsaustraliawide.com/
It shows where you can camp free or at least cheaply. Remember you can stay overnight just about anywhere. You do not have to stay in Caravan Parks.

We hired a high top from Britz once, driving from Broome to Darwin. There was a one way fee, something to consider. You might try for a drive-back but would need to be flexible with dates. Bear in mind the van will only just reach the speed limit, we named ours the white whale.
While you can stay anywhere, it's probably more comfortable at a caravan park with power and bathroom facilities, most have barbecues and picnic areas for use by paying guests.
Enjoy your trip, the East Coast is fabulous.

Apollo is a good option. I have tried it and their service is remarkable. You can book them through https://www.hertz.com.au/rentacar/pr...0New%20Zealand
Also, camping at caravan parks is best!

RUBBISH
You are cramped in with everyone else. You may as well be back in the city.
Stay out somewhere you are the only people for miles and truly experience our country and its isolation.
