We're planning to book a snorkeling cruise with Wavelength....to be taken in early November. I've read that with many tours it's best to wait until you arrive to make the booking so that you are better assured of good weather. But since Wavelength takes so few people, I'm assuming we'd better reserve early.
We arrive in Port Douglas on a Friday night, then have Saturday and Monday available. It seems we might be best off booking for Saturday, then could reschedule if the weather were horrible. Any other things we should know about before booking?

Hi
November is not one of the busiest months, however if you prefer to book ahead, please remember that operators have a 24hrs cancellation policy. You could always book ahead for Saturday and then call ahead to check the weather. If it looks good - go, if not postpone it to Monday.
Wavelength is the best snorkelling trip, you will have a great time.
Please remember that November can be wet, HOWEVER this does not mean you cannot go to the reef. I have been out there several times in the pouring rain and I loved it. The water is really warm and some people say there are more fishes out in the rain. Often it rains on the land it not out on the reef.
You should base your decision not only on rain or no rain but more on wind or no wind (my limit is 20 knot winds as I get seasick very easy).
Yes, do what myaustralia suggests, book Wavelength for your first available day but let them know 24hours in advance if you're going to change.
November used to be considered start of wet season, its actually the build-up to the wet which in recent years seems to be getting later and later. This year it didn't start until March. Its one of my favourite months for reef, calm seas, good visibility. Its not rain which affects a reef trip anyway, its wind, and by November the almost constant SE trade winds over the last few months should have abated. 20 knots is about my maximum too, and I don't get seasick, lately its blowing 25-30knots every day, up to 40knots some days - just awful for reef.
November is also a great time for wildlife, the spring-born animals are out and about and its the favourite time of year for birdwatchers from all over the world.
