I note that tripadvisor has listed the top 25 beaches in the world and Bondi Beach is not one of them. I thought I would give my impressions on Bondi and the perfect beach as I visit Bondi most days. My illustrated report is at http://www.artphototravel.net/the-pacific/bondi-beach-australia/
Bondi Beach, a best beach of the world?

Trip Report: The Land Down Under Feb.-March, 2012
- 25 Australia in December with Toddler

What a strange list, but I guess as Australia's less visited it doesn't make the popularity poll for any of its vast amount of beaches.
The only beach I've been too on the top 25 list is the one at Skiathos, Greece and whilst it was pleasant enough, it was horribly overcrowded water, whilst appearing clean was so sterile nothing could live in it. In fact a local fisherman told me the fishing there was dead and had been for years.
This is the list of "best beaches in the World" by Trip Advisor:
1. Providenciales, Turks and Caicos
2. Boracay, Philippines
3. Palm/Eagle Beach, Aruba
4. Negril, Jamaica
5. Tulum, Mexico
6. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
7. Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman
8. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
9. Cape May, New Jersey
10. Santa Teresa, Costa Rica
We have to remember that Trip Advisor is an American (mainly)
supported trip reporting centre therefore any "best anthings" will be listed where most of the writers have been and that would be where Americans have been.
I have been to the following specifically and I have been to many in the Caribbean but none of the beaches there would get me gasping:
Boracay in the Philippines - Its OK but would not rate it highly and would not swim in any waters around that area because there is not enough salt in the water to kill the germs and crap in the polluted waters off the Philippines or most of Asia for that matter, in my mind.
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina - you have to be kidding me, crappy beach and residential area which has to be the Put Put capital of the World.
Tulum, Mexico - really??????? Oh dear you poor things
But best of all, with my sympathy, is Cape May in New Jersey.
I understand that there would have been a few other countries represented in the survey but perhaps the most beautiful beaches in the World do not get coverage because they are not frequented by those who write most on TA and perhaps that is the way is should stay because should they be discovered they would not stay wonderful for very long.
