Beers in Oz
Ok this may sound odd but here goes. We plan to be in Oz late this year. Love VB but would like to know if Fiji Bitter is available there. Haven't had it since 2001 when we were in Fiji and loved that too. I think it's available at some places on the west coast but being in Chicago we just don't get it here and I have tried believe me.
So as Fiji is quite close to Oz just wondering if Fiji Bitter can had there.
Bottoms up!
Larry. .

I have seen Fiji Water but I have never seen Fiji Bitter in pubs or liquor stores, but to be honest I've never looked for it
These days Bayfields are primarily a liquor store in Dee Why which is not on the normal tourist path

Again - if you google Fiji Bitter, you get leads to the brewers and distributors who will have answers I presume.
Dee Why is a suburb on the northern beaches of Sydney. Bayfields, what in Oz is called a bottle shop (or grog shop in the vernacular), pride themselves on importing lots of beers that are not available in most places. A quick phone call may lead you further.
If not, a trip to Dee Why (ferry to Manly - a great trip anyway!) and bus up to Dee Why will provide a nice outing, and you bring back what you can carry.
VB is an acquired taste. Do yourself a favor when you get to Oz - don't even mention Fosters...

Thank you.
I've heard that before about Fosters.
I had a VB last March for the 1stvtime since 2001 in Fiji as it became available on the cruise ship we were on. I rather liked it though as you say taste is subjective.
I'll try what you said about that ferry as it sounds worth it by itself.
Cheers, Larry.

Take one of the old-style ferries with open seating fore and aft. When you get to Manly, the ferry stops on the harbour-side, and you should walk along the pedestrianized Corso to the open-ocean beach.
Just before the end is a hole-in-the-wall take-away (Australian for "to go") seafood place - indulge and sit at a public table while sipping an appropriate beverage from the pub right across. Might not be a Fiji Bitter, but it'll wash down the prawns (not a "shrimp on the barbie", it's a prawn).
If you take a ferry ride now and then, just for the heck of it, you may find that those rides will be the most lasting memories.
Wishing you clear days.
Cheers
