Australia Visit in Feb'18

Want to visit Australia in the month of Feb'18 with my wife.
As per the various web sites South Australia / Tasmania is the place to visit during the month.
Kindly suggest the best places to visit and the best budget places to stay.
Would Hiring a self drive car be a better option than travelling through trains etc while on the trip as better time management & saving on costs?
I would be travelling from India

What do you want to see? South Australia is very hot during that time . You would not be able to travel by train in Tasmania

Start here: Australia.com

Get a good, scaled, paper map of Australia.

Google maps will give distances & an estimate of driving times.

Use booking.com to see what accommodation is available, where and at what price. There is a map on each listing, so you can proximity to transport etc.

Flying is th most cost & time efficient transport for long distances between major points.

Donstic carriers: Qantas, Virgin ( full service)
Jetstar & Tiger ( budget - watch out for on-costs)

Weather in NT pleasant in February - I don't think so. It's the height of summer and the heart of the wet season with heavy rain and temps ranging from 24C to 38C .
I did love going to Kakadu in the the wet because it's so different but the weather is not pleasant.
