Airfare question -- LAX to Fiji in May

This question is for those familiar with airfares bewtween LAX and Nadi, Fiji. I've booked my hotel and flights but haven't ticketed yet. Right now the fare between LAX and Nadi is about $1100 US. Is this a good price or should I wait? If this price is too high, what do you consider a good fare? (Can't do a package so must book my air and hotel separately).

Either plane fares from the USA are over the top ( expensive) or you are buying the airline. Check on Air Pacific site first and then with a Travel Agent

You should be able to get that for closer to 900. Call a travel agent who specializes in the south pacific and ask them. They should be able to get you consolidator (discounted) fares, or at least book the cheaper air with what is called a throw away hotel. This is because air is often discounted with packages. Ask if you can book first two nights (the usual min.) at the least expensive hotel in Nadi and get a better rate with air. Call AGENTS! That is really going to be your best bet. Good Luck!

Fran,
Try Claudia at www.pacific-for-less.com. There is a 800 number listed you can call for info. She was great.
We booked with her last May for Rarotonga/Aitutaki & she got us consolidator prices. Check your local Sunday paper for consolidators also. I just used one in LA for a trip to Belize next April & I got tickets for one half the price advertised on Travelocity & with local agents! Good luck!

Try Air New Zealand. Not so crowded as Air Pacific and great service. We paid around $900 a piece last August.
