Advise on Daintree /atherton tablelands self drive

We have just arrived in PD and loving the place! Kids were thrilled with the wild life habitat experience.

We plan to spend the day after tomorrow exploring mossman gorge( do the longer walk) and daintree rainforest. Croc cruise is not a priority unless its a better way to experience the rain forest env. So is it better to drive to the daintree village for the cruise or cross the river to visit the discovery centre and go further up north to cape trib. Advice would be appreciated.

The following day morning , we hope to drive to yungaburra for the night and have till next day 4pm flight to explore the area. The crater lakes and the curtain fig are on the list. Wondering if any other stops are recommended.
Also should we visit tjapukai to experience some aboriginal culture as we are skipping kuranda in favor of daintree rainforest.
