If you had one full day (and a half) in Sydney, what would you do? Should I stay in the city? Or go out of town to the Blue Mountains? Ideas?

I'd stay in the city. For ideas - what are your interests? When will you be here?
Sydney's a vibrant city with plenty for everyone to see & do, but need to know your interests to give specific recommendations.
Top choices include:
The Rocks, Circular Quay and Opera House precinct (Museum of Contemporary Art).
Botanic Gardens, Art Gallery of NSW, Museum of Sydney, Macquarie Street.
Ferry to Watsons Bay, bus to Bondi Beach, Bondi - Bronte walk.
Ferry to Manly (30 mins), restaurants, Aquarium, walks.
Taronga Zoo.
Paddington, Wollahra, Oxford Street for some browsing, shopping.
Newtown for cosmopolitan & funky University village shops & eats.
Thanks, Bokhara2, that's a start. I think maybe I want an overview of the city to get a feel for it. I do love art and being out and about. It will be July, though, so nippy.
I'm trying to figure out if it's worth taking the day to go to the Blue Mountains and then spending the half day in the city. (I'm also going to Alice Spring, and to Canberra to visit a friend. Will also have friends to see in Sydney.)
We stayed a week in Sydney three years ago and enjoyed it so much we are going back shortly. The Blue Mountain excursion is enjoyable but it is a full day. We really enjoyed the Aquarium and Taronga Zoo. Don't take a harbour tour; take the ferry to Manly and get a great view of the city from the water.
Hope this helps.
