8 Full Days South Island: Itinerary Advise

We will be flying to the South Island on Dec 16 2016 from Sydney Australia. On Dec 25 2016, we will fly to Auckland to visit our friend.

We can fly into and out of Queenstown or Christchurch. Cost wise, there is not too much difference between the two airports. Please let us know which airport makes more sense based on the areas we would like to visit below.

We are a family of four (two adults and two older teens). We enjoy hiking, nature/wild life and we have a very modest budget. I have listed the areas we would like to visit below. We will be renting a car. We would like to know the most efficient way and in what order to drive to each of these areas below. We welcome any good advise & tips and we are open to any changes/improvements.

Below are the areas we would like to visit so far:

Te Anu/Milford Sound area
-Milford Sound Cruise
-Key Summit Track Hike/Walk

Franz Joseph Glacier or Fox Glacier area
-With our modest budget, we probably won't be doing the helicopter hike or helicopter ride. Are there good hikes/walks here?

Wanaka area
-Roy Roy Glacier Track Walk

Aoraki Mount Cook National Park area
-Hooker Valley Track

We would love to see the penguins at Oamaru and the baby seals at Ohau Falls. Not sure if it's feasible to drive to these two places also. Thanks again for your
