We are a party of 4 oldies (78 -82) arriving lunch time on a Tuesday and leaving about lunch time on the Friday. We are staying at the Four Seasons, George St. Our plans are to take a Harbour Cruise, a walk to the Opera House, Botanical Gardens and Rock Area, a morning visit to Bondi Beach and the ladies will want to look at the shops. What have we missed out??

You are still a bunch of youngsters

If you take a ferry to Manly and walk down the Corso instead of doing a harbour cruise you do not really need to do Bondi as Manly is a really nice beachside suburb. Bondi is a bit out and a bit...well unless you eat at Icebergs as Liz has raved about it.

You may enjoy Luna Park where you can take the ladies on a ride

If you really enjoy seafood then the fishmarkets are a must (but you must love seafood) Fresh and good value. Take the light rail from Chinatown.

Check out the shopping area around Pitt street Mall nad have a coffe in the Strand Arcade, stick your nose in the State Theatre and wander through the Queen Victoria Building.

If knees are playing up maybe the explorer bus would be a comfortable way around the sites.

Definitely go shopping at Queen Victoria building at 455 George St. Described in the Eyewitness guide book as "the most beautiful shopping centre in the world" it has little shops of name brand stuff as well as souvenir shops (where we went) and a great clock. Don't let the ladies miss the ladies' rest room. Quite interesting.

p.s. I agree Bondi Beach is not as nice as Manly and there is a nice walk to the right of the beach as you are looking at it with little sculptures embedded in the rock and lovely views.

Another vote for the Queen Victoria Building (QVB). It is absolutely beautiful! There are actually two clocks there--one shows scenes from British history and the other shows scenes from Australian history. One strikes on the hour and the other on the half hour, so you can easily see both "shows".
When you walk through the Botanical Gardens, be sure to have a look-see at the flying foxes in the trees. Unfortunately, they are damaging the trees, but they are fascinating creatures.
