2 days in Sydney... ideas needed!

Hi there.. My boyfriend and I have the opportunity for 2 days in Sydney in a couple of weeks (Sat morning - Sun night)... we have been to Sydney a couple of times and have done the 'obvious' touristy things, like a harbour cruise and Darling Harbour, but are looking for ideas for this trip, as well as recommendations for places to stay. Thank you!!!!

OK - you have done a Harbour Cruise - but have you walked any of the foreshore walks? Have you checked out the Art Gallery of NSW and the Botanical Gardens? That's what I would recommend for Sunday.

For Sat - visit the Museum of Sydney - then take a ferry to Balmain - check out the markets in Balmain and the nextdoor suburb of Rozelle. If markets don't appeal, take the ferry anyway and have lunch in Balmain or go onwards and check out the Fish Markets.

Go to a performance at the SOH, or the Wharf.

You could always pick up a newspaper and find out what is going on in the city. We were lucky that there was a food show going on when we were there which was so much fun and so much wine by 11am. There are also some really great food markets you can go check out.

Do the Spit Bridge to Manly walk. It's Sydney's greatest walk, and if the day is fine and bright, this is a perfect time of year for it, as you won't come out the other end looking like a lobster. Some books show it as starting at Manly amd ending at the Spit Bridge, but take my advice: it's better to do it from the bridge and finish the day at Manly, after which you have that great ferry ride back to Sydney as the sun is setting.

This may be too touristy but a VIP Gold Aussie Tour of Taronga Zoo is good. Also take a ghost tour of the Quarantine Station in Manly. Be sure to make cab reservations though.
