15 Days In South New Zealand - February

Jump to last reply

15 days and it seems like we don't even have enough time! We went through a ton of itineraries on Fodor's and we want your help to see if this makes sense! Much appreciated for your time in taking a look and any opinions are welcome!

Basically, we are a young couple looking to explore a life outside the city (we come from Singapore), and New Zealand will be our first real trip outside a city and we're really excited about it. Our itinerary involves a ton of stuff to do outdoors, so do let us know if we're missing out on something!

Planned Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive at Queenstown (settling in)
Day 2-4: Outdoor activities including skydiving, bungee, river surfing (we're planning one day each, and haven't decided on which company to book)
Day 5-6: Head to Te Anau (Trekking in Milford Sound)
Day 7-8: Head to Lake Wanaka (deep canyoning)
Day 9-10: Head to Franz Josef and explore the glaciers

Unconfirmed Itinerary
Day 11-14: Head to Nelson (unconfirmed on what we would like to do)
Day 15: Head to Christchurch to fly off

Our dilemma starts at Day 11-14 as we're unsure of what we should be doing to maximize the time there. Some of the options listed are Kaikoura or Greymouth, but we do not really know which would be better. Our concern with heading to Nelson is that it is really far north and we would be spending excessive time traveling up there and not too sure if it would be worth the time.

Any suggestions to help fill out our remaining days are greatly appreciated! Thanks!
