We're planning to spend 10 nights at Le Meridien in Bora Bora and using Tahiti as a stop-over point only. Do you think we'll miss anything by opting not to spend any time in Tahiti?

Most people will tell you no, stay as far away from Papeete as possible. We loved our one day on Tahiti. We rented a car and got lost downtown a million times trying to find the market (it became really funny), loved the market and all of the items that we enjoyed throughout our vacation and bought, did a circle island tour on our own, went to the waterfalls and then went to the roulettes at night. It was great fun and a perfect way to end our vacation. Papeete is very busy and has lots of modern conveniences, probably why people say to go to other islands. But Tahiti is very beautiful and becomes that way as soon as you leave the city.
