I'll be flying from Kunming to Guilin - and then hoping to get to Yangshuo as quickly as possible. What is the best way to get from the airport to Yangshuo?
Do you have suggestions for clean, safe, affordable hostels in Yangshuo. Preferably with single rooms and with helpful staff who can advise me with activity planning.
I'll be staying 4 nights, then flying out from Guilin to Shenzhen.
Thanks
Yangshuo hostel and bus suggestions?

The best and quickest way is by car. There might be a bus service but I don't really have any information on that. Again it takes about 2 - 2.5 hours in a car.
Regarding accommodation in Yangshou. If you are a light sleeper then I suggest a place that is no located in "downtown". Lots of people, noises, music etc. Perhaps a nice inn on the river?
It has been a while for me but perhaps my trip report might help.

We also went by car - the roads are very well kept. We stayed at a Bed & Breakfast called The Giggling Tree which is not luxury but the staff and food was fantastic. Quite remote countryside with cycling paths that can get you around to see the fantastic scenery.
The accommodation you book will likely offer pickup from the airport, as mine has done, for a modest cost. Less than booking separately I'm told.
When do you plan to be there?
I've just noticed on another post that you'll be arriving in Guilin on Sept. 21st. I'll be near Yangshuo until the 22nd. If you get to Yangshuo a bit earlier we might meet for a cup of tea.
The only way to make it from the Gulin airport to Yangshuo by public transportation is to take the bus to Guilin then another bus to Yangshuo. Cheap but it will take forever.
While in Yangshuo you must try the vegetarian restaurant next to the Magnolia hotel (I forget the name). I am not even vegetarian.
MmePerdu,
I'm still finalizing my plans, but it looks like now I'll be flying from Kunming-Guilin on 9/25. Looks like we'll miss each other , this time anyway.
JPDeM,
Thanks for the tips on Guilin-Yangshuo transportation. I think there's definitely a time and place to pay a little bit more for convenient and efficient transport instead of figuring out mulitple modes of public travel. I think I'll try to book my Yangshuo hostel in advance and see if they can help me get there from the Guilin airport.
I'm actually a vegetarian, so I'll be sure to look for the veggie restaurant in Yangshuo.
Hanuman,
I started reading your Yangshuo area trip report. I love your adventurousness and your details. I'm going to print it out and include that in my research. Thanks
Vegetarian restaurant next to the Magnolia -- Pure Lotus Vegetarian restaurant. YUM! On of the best meals we had on our trip!
I'll look forward to it! Thanks
