I'll e traveling to india in February and will need to get a visa. Are all the different agencies the same? Is it necessary to pay the extra fee or can I go to the India consul directly?
Thanks in advance for your time and advice!

Are you in the US? If so, the India Consulate has contracted out visa processing to Travisa. Make sure you get to the right area of the Travisa website, otherwise you will pay more. There are plenty of posts here about getting the India visa. Also, if you think there is any chance you will go to India again within the next 10 years, get a 10 year visa.
Going with a different agency will cost you more.
Thanks Kathie.....yes I'm in the US.. What did you mean by the right area of the website? What should I be looking for?
Go to the India Consulte website and use the link from there. If you do a search here for India visa you will read about someone who just went to the Travisa website and who filled out the long form before realizing they were in the wrong area and it would have cost them more!
Thanks!!! Do you know anything about a visa for Russia?? Going there later in the year.....it's a catch up year for trips. Been on hiatus since my grand baby was born!!
I got my Russia visa the same way I got my India visa: using Travisa.
I used http://www.traveldocs.com
Thanks Kathie, I did see that if you go to the India consulate there is a direct link to Travisa and it is cheaper that way!
