Where to??

We are visiting Malaysia next March. So far we have 2 nights in Kuala Lumper booked and then were thinking 5 nights at a beach resort (perhaps doing a spot of diving), and then 5 nights in Borneo, I think Sabah.

We are on quite a limited budget of no more than $50 per night for the room.

Can anyone recommend anywhere we could stay and the best places to go to make the most of our visit.

Incidentally, we have already booked 5 nights in Penang, shoudl we keep that as our beach part?

Thanks

Hi sally,
We are also going to Malaysia next march, and have decided to go to Kl, penang and borneo. In march this year we went to Bangkok, koh samui, then to KL for 1 night only and to Langkawi for 10 nights .We really enjoyed Langkawi, although it is very quiet, some beautiful beaches ,especially at the north of the island, and lot,s of wildlife and jungle. If you would like anymore info e-mail me direct.
Ps .The weather is great in march, very hot and sunny,

2 hotels in Kuala Lumpur were recommended by our travel agent:

1. Renaissance-grand 5* hotel but not expensive - around $50 & 10 mins walk from main shop areas -check out website http://www.renaissance-kul.com/home.htm.

2. Concorde tourist class hotel and right by the main shopping district, also has a website.

We're staying at the Renaissance in Sept-luxury but affordable..!!

www.asia-hotels.com gives customer ratings on hotels.

Funny you should suggest that but we have already booked the Renaissance!! We couldn't believe what a great price we got on it. You recommend it then??

I keep hearing quite negative comments about Penang which is why I am now unsure. We have booked the bayview beach resort.

To katz and sally,
In langkawi we stayed at the Berjaya resort,we were a bit dissapointed with the room at first,as it was fairly basic, but the bed is huge ,and very comfy ,and the room is fairly spacious. We had a room [wooden chalet]over-looking the sea,but alot were way back in the jungle ,and seemed very dark. The room and resort really grew on us,the scenery around the hotel is great, and the beach is lovely. There are lot's of monkeys around the resort.I,m sure you will have a great time, where are you staying Katz???
Sally-we are also staying at the bayview beach,i have heard very good reports on it,alot of people really enjoy Penang,i know the beaches are not supposed to be so good, but there's alot of other things to see and do, and there's always the pools!!!.
