Hello Kimber, I'm glad to see you are interested in other countries. China is a very large country and it has changed quite a bit in the last years. People are able to own their own businesses and there are many more cars in the last ten years. The people are very friendly and are just like us--interested in raising a family and making a living. If you'd like to see what it was like about 80 years ago rent the movie "The Last Emperor" and you will see how people lived, especially royalty. People don't wear the same kind of clothes now but some of the older people still wear clothes in the "Chairman Mao" style. The little children wear very brightly colored clothes. The parents encourage their children to be active in music or acrobatics and the grandparents often look after the children if both parents both. Please e-mail me if you'd like to know specific answers. See what you can find in your local library. Margot
Hi,Kimber. There are more and more international student exchange programs conducted between China and oversea countries. You will find it's very interesting to make a Chinese friend, living in him/her home for a few days. You'll find what a real China like.
