What to where in Rajasthan in January?
Helllo all!
I am going to tour Rajasthan in a couple of weeks and don't know what to pack. I saw temperatures range from 23C to 9C in January. I recently saw a picture of a tourist there at this time with strong winter clothes and I was astonished.
Would someone please tell me what I should take? Winter clothes or some jeans, shirts, light dresses with a cardigan? And sandals or boots?
I would really appreciate your help and input.

Bring clothes that you can layer. You won't need boots or winter wear (by our standards), but you should have closed toed shoes for the evening or cooler day weather. There can be a big variation in winter weather, so have clothes you can layer on or take off as the temps change.
A mid weight overcoat, scarf, and mittens just in case would probably be the heaviest. Then have a mixture of a couple of turtle necks, non turtle necks, a few cardigans/sweaters. You get the idea. It may involve bringing more clothing that for other times of the year, but that's winter in India.

In early December last year, I wore short-sleeved blouses, slacks, walking shoes with socks, sometimes sandals. I had a fleece jacket with a zip-in rain coat (never used the rain coat) in the evening, never in the day. Forget the boots. It is very dry in Rajasthan and I doubt you'll encounter snow. We went as far north as Amritsar and experienced no cold weather.
Take a scarf if you're female in case you need a head covering in houses of worship.

Hindu temples do not require women to cover their heads.Those who do are doing it out of personal preference (usually the older ladies). My MIL pulls her sari drape up over her hair in the temple, but my SILs and I don't.
Head covering for women might be required at Sikh temples and Moslem mosques.

If visiting Rajesthan visit Jaipur. The temperature touches maximum to 22°C and gets down to the extent of 5°C.
In winters, one can enjoy the regal city of Jaipur to its full. The spectacular views offered by the ancient monuments of the city fascinate the visitors. The city looks awesome in the winter evenings when it gets covered with fog. Jaipur offers rich food with lots of butter and ghee, which is best enjoyable in the winter season. Hi!
Rajasthan in winters is extremely cold in the night time as it is a desert destination.
Hence, would advise you to carry shawls/sweaters for the evening. It's okay during the day time to not wear anything warm.
