What beach to choose?!?!
Hello everyone,
I am a 35 y/o female planning a solo trip to Thailand for 4 weeks in min January. I am landing in Bangkok for a few days heading north then want to spend 7-8 days at a beach. Here are the things I am looking for in a beach experience:
-Beautiful Beach!
-No couple, honeymoon, lovebird island
-I would love to be at a beach where a lot of other solo travelers go
-Definitely would like to be able to meet new friends and enjoy some great nightlife, drinks, etc but I want to be able to get a good nights sleep as well when it's time for bed so not looking to be staying anywhere where it's so loud that I can't sleep. Also, I would like to head to a beach from Chiang Mai if possible then head back to Bangkok after the beach. They all seem so difficult to get to...
-Not super expensive maybe $20-$25 a night accommodations from airbnb or a private room hostel
From what I have researched these look the most appealing to me from the pictures but not sure if any offer what I am looking for:
-Ko Tao
-Phuket
-Ko Phi Phi
-Ko Lipe
Any advice on this will be so so so appreciated or other beach destinations Thank you....

There are lots of beautiful beaches in Thailand. At that time of year, Personally, I'd opt for a beach on the Andaman Sea (Phuket, PhiPhi, Krabi, Khoa Lak, Koh Lanta, etc.
Ko Tao is an island for divers. If you don't dive, you'd likely prefer elsewhere. It's a ferry ride from Koh Samui, and you can fly to Koh Samui.
Ko PhiPhi is a ferry ride from Phuket, and you can fly to Phuket easily. Phuket itself has lots of different areas and they all have different atmosphere.
Ko Lipe is difficult to get to.
To get to any of the beaches, you'll need to fly via Bangkok. Lots of cheap flights available, check out Air Asia.

We spent 4 weeks (too long really) in the Khao Lak and Nai Yang area in March/April this year.
The Khao Lak area stretches for 25km along the Andaman coast. Plenty of quiet areas, but there's also a lot of big hotels strung along the coastline. And as Khao Lak's fame is growing, so are number of package tourists, and the number of Chinese coach groups.
The 2 main resorts of Khao Lak are Bang La On, and Bang Niang. We stayed at both, and found Bang La On clean and friendly, whereas Bang Niang is scruffy although it has a good afternoon/evening market 3 nights a week. We stayed in Bang La On and Bang Niang for a week each. A great place to stay in the former, which is within your budget is Walkers Inn. It's run by a former miner from Yorkshire, and his Thai wife...

For a much quieter, and imo prettier beach have a look at Nai Yang. Nai Yang is only 5 minutes from Phuket Airport, not to many tourists, a few bars and restaurants, and the sea is pristine, sheltered, so excellent for swimming.

Yes, it can take a bit of effort to get to some of the destinations but virtually all are less than a days travel from Bangkok. From Chiang Mai it usually means flying via BKK.
Kph Tao used to be mainly for divers but having looked to return there myself to to some spdiving it seems like the place apgphas exploded with new rp( expensive resorts.
FWIW it feel Phuket and Phi Phi will not provide what you seek - too overtouristed and expensive. koh Lipe, maybe. Also have a look at Koh Yao Noi/ Yai. We enjoyed Koh Libong a few years ago but were np just about the only people on the island so you are unlikely to find many opportunities for socialising there!

You never indicated that you require a "quiet" beach, so I am going to suggest Kata or Kata Noi on Phuket. You will be in a more touristic area, and I think will have more opportunities to meet like minded travelers! Kata and Kata Noi are not nearly so busy as is Patong Beach. I would not opt for Patong, but you can easily get there from Kata or Kata Noi. Weather should be ideal!
