Weekend in Bangalore ( Bengaluru )
I have to attend a wedding in early August and have only a short weekend to spare ( Friday to Monday ) What are th must see, do and eat htere? I have visited Kolkata, Chennai and Dimapur ( Nagaland ) before briefly but had minders then. This time we are on our own and can plan our own programme around the wedding on Saturday afternoon. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi Silverlex
I assume Friday and Monday would be travel days, you may still be able to squeeze 1/2 day for yourself on these days. But Friday and Monday are working days and the traffic situation would be bad and you would spend 2-3 hours navigating traffic.
Saturday and Sunday are relatively better but still no assurance about the traffic.
If this is your first trip to Bangalore than you may like to visit Bangalore Palace, Vidhana Soudha (state parliament building, just view from outside ), Bull Temple , MG Road Brigade Road which is downtown bangalore, ISCON temple. If you can cover these in a day it would be a great achievement.
If you have 1 additional day, you could try visiting Mysore which is about 3.5 hrs one way drive from Bangalore. It has historical importance with the Mysore Kings palace, KRS Dam, Mysore Zoo, Chamundeshwari hill. Enroute to mysore you could spend an hour at Srirangapattana , where you can see the palace of Tipu Sultan, the king who fought the british.

Thanks for the advise. The traffic was quite a challenge. The best part of the trip was meeting up with friends in India and the amazing wedding. Bangalore is not really a tourist attraction city. However the Hotel was a great sanctury form the hustle and bustle of the traffic and dust!!
