Visiting a Country in Mourning

Thanks, Lucy. We do plan to spend our holidays in Bangkok once again, this time with a New Year trip to Hua Hin. Now I am wondering just how long the wearing of the color black will continue. Is it a 3-month period, or the 1-year mourning period that has been mentioned on another thread?
I have a few items of clothing in black, so I guess I can take those, but I hope I don't stand out too much if I'm wearing something different.....other than black? The last thing I want to do is offend the wonderful Thai people!!

My Danish friend who lives in Bangkok says that nearly everyone is dressed in black. Looks like I have some shopping to do before heading there in December! Wondering just how long this wearing-of-black (or white) will continue.

I meant to say I am truly impressed... and I unfortunately don't feel the patriotism here( in Spain) like I am seeing in this young man.
I obviously did not put enough time at ALL into my wording. Sorry. I thought this video was wonderful.. and just made me realize so clearly that not many youth will feel that sorrow and admiration this man does when our previous King finally leaves us.
It is refreshing to see such adoration in a country

My best Thai friend just e-mailed me again yesterday and mentioned again about the wearing of black and white. So, I'm still reworking my wardrobe. She had also e-mailed me right after The King had passed and had also mentioned it. She said that one can also wear a black arm band, but that even if the clothing colors aren't black and white, then dark colors. The wearing of black and white seems that it will go on longer than some had thought as she knows when I arrive.
I'm out with Thai friends and will wear what is accepted and appropriate with them and especially since my best Thai friend is in rather deep mourning. She cried her eyes out when The King's death was announced.
I'll leave all of my usual bright and cheerful colors for the remainder of my vacation in S.E. Asia. So, for the three weeks in Bangkok, I'll tone the colors down and then back to bright colors for the remaining three weeks in S.E. Asia.
Below is a nice link that my Thai friend sent me yesterday. I loved it as I spent nearly my entire childhood and many years after going to Disneyland and was first there in 1957, two years after it had opened. I was a toddler on my first visit and still have the family album photos of that visit and other visits throughout the decades. Those photos below, bring back a lot of great memories.

Carol, if we see each other in Bangkok, we might be looking like twins, dressed in black.
Lucy, I just got home, after midnight yesterday from Honolulu. Flew my mom over for her birthday. I'll try flying back over in 2017 so that you/husband, the group, and I can do dinner again.
Happy Travels!

His majesty king of Thailand is the heart of Thai people. If you give a bit of time to know why Thai people love him much more. You'll understand that reason.
For a mourning for this period time take to 1 month from his passed away after that everything will running normal. You don't worry. and for the black dress as possible as if you go to the temples or the palace that show you make respect to my King and also appropriate decorum. Some bar and disco in Bangkok or other attraction around Thailand are open normal but not make the loud sound.
Warm welcome to Thailand Guys.
