visa question

Hi,
I have a question about my Indian Visa. On the application it says that no one should visit within 2 months of their last visit. My friends & I are flying into India, going to Nepal, and then coming back to India to spend some time before we fly home. Is this going to be a problem?

Yes, you have to get special permission to do this.

i have the same issue...i was told by the visa folks that it is not a problem if you show your trip plan and airline tickets to the FIRST immigration officer you come in contact with in india... i am taking an additional copy of our plan with us in case i need it for that reason... my visit is even stamped with this limitation on it..

there is some form that must be completed and you will be allowed to pass with no problem....

i'm doing this in mid-november..

Thanks for the info everybody. I did read the part about having an itinerary to show to the officer will allow this. But we don't have an itinerary, as we aren't touring with a travel group or anything. Are you just typing up a plan to show them? I'm just worried about this. Maybe its a better idea to find a flight from New Delhi to Kathmandu so we don't have to worry about this?

LOL!! Thank you so much for your advice. You're going in November? I'm going Dec 17th-Jan 5th. We weren't going to book hotels, just go in to ones we like and ask to see a room.....but I guess now we'll have to.let me know how your trip goes!

I just got our Visas from our processing company and it had a stamp about the 2 month issue. We will spend 3 days in Delhi, then a week in Nepal followed by nearly 4 more weeks in India. We plan a week in Sri Lanka prior to our final departure from India out of Chennai. I subsequently checked the India Ministry website, www.mha.nic.in, and after reading the FAQs was still confused. I contacted an official at the embassy by email and got the following reply:

"Sir

You will have to show at the Immigration the travel itinerary and confirmed air tickets in respect of travel out of India and into India on each occasion and your return ticket to USA. Please also refer to the Frequently Asked Questions on Tourist visa uploaded on this Ministry's website www.mha.nic.in under Citizens Services - Foreigners Division."

This information coupled with discussions with Indian tour operators makes me reasonably certain that we are not subject to the two month rule. Having said that I will have several copies of all of our travel plans and air confirmations.

I am also taking a copy of the email from the official as well as a copy of the FAQs from the afore-mentioned website.
