Viewing Sumo wrestling in Japan?

Jump to last reply

Hi, We are a family of 4, in Japan from 12/20-1/3/15. We would be interested in viewing Sumo. I had contacted several sites which said that the stables are closed from 12/26-1/6/15, in Tokyo so we won't be able to visit them when we are in Tokyo, 12/31-1/3/15. Another site invited us to view the practice, on the street outside through a window, but then talked about how one had to be careful, since large trucks would drive by and it might be dangerous!
Does anyone know of a different place to view Sumo either in Tokyo, while we are there or in another part of japan while we are in the country? I think there are tournaments in the latter half of December. Would they be on television?
Thanks
Evelyn
