Vietnam: Halong Bay or Sapa?
I'm traveling to Vietnam next week and was wondering whether it's worth it to make the trip to Halong Bay. Also, can anyone recommend any travel agents who book trips on the bay? Also, what are the conditions like when you choose to stay overnight on the boat?
If Halong Bay is not all it's cracked up to be, I will consider making the trip to Sapa.
Thanks!

We had a wonderful trip to Halong Bay with HandSpan (you can book through their website or when you arrive in Hanoi). We did the three day, two night trip, with a long day hike on Cat Ba Island. We especially enjoyed the hike, but if you have difficulty with hiking uphill, you may wish to pass on Cat Ba Island.

we used asiantrails.com for out time in n. vn.....they were terrific and quite reasonable....the bay is very interesting....we did it as a day trip from hyphong....that was adequate for us...we stayed at the royal garden's harborside hotel which was the only upscale hotel at the time....
asiantrails has prepackaged tours but they did a custom tour for us (2 people)

Staying on board is good, must be on a small group tour, I choose Green and they were fine but have heard many good reports about the kangaroo cafe tour, he does a good burger too, try his web page www.kangaroocafe.com.au
have fun
Sapa is also a good spot
