Vegetarian in Singapore - Help Needed

Hi I am going to be traveling for work to Singapore. I will get about one a half day of the weekend and 5 week evenings (post work) while I am there. I am planning to see:

1.Little India,
2. Chinatown
3. Arab street
4. Botanical Gardens
5. Marina Bay, Gardens by the bay
6. Night Safari (may be)
7. Other suggestions? I am not too much into museums therefore did not list the Asian Civilization museum.

Here area few things that I need help for:

1. Food - as a vegetarian, I am very fond of any ethnic cuisine. Would love to get great South Indian food (anything better than Sarvanaa Bhawan?), Vietnamese, Malaysian, Chinese, Thai, Arabic etc. Please provide recommendations. Is there a website that provides reviews/menus of restaurants in Singapore too?

2. Shopping - Want to do some local shopping for things while I am there. Any area where midrange reasonable shopping to be done? I recently read about Haji Street. Not sure how good/bad it is. Also, is there any bargaining involved in transactions or it is pretty much fixed price?

3. Photography - I am an avid photographer. I have seen many viewsof the marina bay from afar. Where do you get that view from? Also, what are some other great photography locations? Please let me know. I love night photography, so would love to know some great places to go photograph.

4. Phone - Data SIM card for iPhone. Where to get it and which one is good for a week long trip? I need both internet and voice access. Just mobile internet access will work for me as well.

Thanks for your help!

Although I occasionally eat fish, I haven't eaten meat/poultry since the 1970s, but have not had a food problem in Singapore even when I don't feel like consuming fish. Singapore is food heaven.

I don't know why the first URL suddenly didn't work. You can try the above one.

Komala Vilas in Little India is a great place to get good, cheap south indian food. There is also a nice oriental vegetarian restaurant called Zen Fut Sai Kai on Kitchener road.

Hi Vibhav,
SIngapore is an easy place to find vegetarian food. All the ethnic groups have their own version of vegetarian food. The local website for places to eat here (I'm a Singaporean) is http://www.hungrygowhere.com
There are a different selection of cuisines and restaurants to choose from.

For affordable shopping places, I would suggest places like Mustafa center, Bugis Street, Geylang Serai and of cos Chinatown area.

There are 3 local telecommunication companies, Singtel, Starhub and M1. For which you could check out their websites and compare the prepaid card plans. You can also purchase and get a better guide at the Singapore Changi Airport, or Orchard tourist information counter.

There are other attractions that you can check out too like the Jurong Birdpark, Sentosa Island, Resorts world sentosa, Pulau Ubin, and much more.

The official Singapore tourism website is http://www.yoursingapore.com/content...xperience.html which you could check out prior to your trip.

Hope that is a great help to you and enjoy your stay here!
