Trip Ideas
Go to India for culture. Plan to spend enough time in India because there is a lot to see, and it is a big country.
Fiji is a beach vacation, imho.
Two very different choices...how much time do you have to add to your already extensive itinerary.
>Two very different choices
I don't know!
Almost half of the population in Fiji are Indian descent.
Fiji time!
India would certainly be my choice - it will "wrap up" your tour of Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos in terms of culture, art and architecture (Buddhism and Buddhist art/architecture originated out of India). You can also visit some of the most beautiful Hindu and Islamic architectural sites in the world.
Here is a selection of our favorite sites in the North http://bit.ly/1YCuj and South http://bit.ly/l8HN0
Enjoy!
Gosh, how exciting. Tell us all about it.
wow. thanks so much for your responses, im travelling for 4 months, 2 weeks nepal, 2 months thailand-laos-cambodia-vietnam, 2 weeks australia cains to brisburn, 2 weeks new zeland south island.
Im really struggling with this last decision. indias somewhere iv always wanted to go but im wondering if after all that the culture shock will be too much as i will be exhausted and maybe quite homesick. im also really fair and the hassel worries me a bit.It would also only be 2 weeks there. On the other hand im not sure if fiji for 14 days would get boring and its just a "boozy" beach holiday.. though maybe relaxation at the end of a trip is what you need...! im really not sure!! as much help as possible would be great please, thanks!
You can't really do all that much in India for two weeks, especially at the end of a multi-month trip.
Do India when you can be more focused and energized just for that country.
Go chill and sunbathe in Fiji.
India is truly one of the most fascinating Countries i've been to - from tribal villagers to western cities, it's so diverse!
You get beautiful beaches in Goa and the South in Kerala there's a place called Kovalam with great places to chill out. Although it is rather touristy now. Plus to wind down from a full on travel experience they do great massages - Indian head massages and Ayurvedic treatments.
Although i agree with others when they say you need more time to discover India and as a westerner you will get hassled at times which some people find stressful but if you can turn a blind eye to it you can really enjoy the beauty and culture of India.
Haven't been to Fiji but it does look like paradise, maybe as a more relaxed end to your travel experience and considering that you haven't got much time it would probably be the best option.
Enjoy whatever you decide to do!
laos..L A O S
btw, Fiji, ftw..
I've decided to go to India. Its somewhere I've always wanted to go and people say so many amazing things about I think I'd regret it if I didn't. Thanks so much for all the advice its really helped me make my decision. If anyone has any more tips about where to go in India that would be brilliant will check out Kovalam! Thanks again everyone
Anna, probably a good choice for you. You should not have any "culture shock" with India (altho I've never been) as you will have been to Thailand, Laos, etc beforehand.
I stopped in Fiji on two different trips to the South Pacific (Australia/New Zealand) as a way to relax before heading back to the USA. The first time I stopped in Fiji was following a five week solo trip that covered most of the eastern half of Australia. I had been on the go quite a bit, and was glad to have a couple of days of R & R before getting home. I was also feeling a little bit homesick by that time! I left DH and DS at home!
The second stop was following a 3 week trip to OZ/Tasmania and New Zealand, travelling with a friend, so not a solo trip. Again, Fiji was a nice place to chill for a couple of days.
I'm sure you will find places to relax in India. As I said, good choice.

If you are visiting India from Nepal - you should take a flight to Agra and see the Taj Mahal. Skip Delhi cause it might be too much of a hassle. Agra is just a one day thing. From there just head off to Kerala. It will be a great mix hassle free culture and relaxation. There are some beautiful resorts to enjoy the backwaters of Kerala. Please check the best time to travel to Kerala - May is very hot.
Also do not go to Goa - although it is nice, after the Thailand beaches, it will be a disappointment.
