Uber from Delhi International Airport, India
Hi,
We will be arriving almost at mid night to Delhi International airport. Is it safe to get Uber to go to the hotel with luggage?
Would appreciate your recommendation.

Yes, Kathie is correct. Go to the taxi desk, tell them your destination, and purchase a little ticket to give to the driver. The ticket is tiny, so put it in a safe place after you purchase it. Guys will try to grab your luggage once you are outside the airport, but ignore them and keep walking until you find a proper taxi driver.

A friend just returned from India and said Uber is used everywhere in India's big cities. Traveling alone, she used it frequently and safely over a two week period in New Delhi and Mumbai. Maybe this will help:

Yelana, i have been using uber all the time in india. when u come out of the international airport in new delhi, there are counters of three cab companies. merucabs, megacabs and easycabs. u could book either of those, they charge 20 rs per km. also if u wish to take uber, then just book it and it wil pick you up from the last lane of the arrivals.
there is also a prepaid taxi counter on the right hand side when u come out of the airport. just tell them your location and they will arrange a black and yellow taxi for you.
let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks Priya for your advice on taxis.
Is there only one door from where the passengers exit to the taxi desks?
Are there any signs that make it easy to find the desk.
Last time when I went there it was very chaotic.
The pre-paid counter is outside the door on the right side, is good to know.
Any other tips will be welcome as this is helpful for me.

ileen yes there is one exit and you wont miss the cab counters. they are pretty easy to spot. else ask the security person at the exit and he will point you to them. yes india is chaotic but you will love it.

The cabs described above are private taxi companies. The local taxi pre-paid booth is a small square affair outside to the left of the entrance as you come out and across the first "road" inside the airport precinct. This is a local black taxi - but pre-paid
