Are both flights on China Airlines? Are you purchasing the tickets from China Airlines all on one ticket? If so, then China AIrlines has determined that it is a legal connection time and they take responsibility if, for some reason, the connection does not work out. They would get her to Bangkok on the next flight. I'd recommend that you buy the tickets directly from the airline on their own website rather than going through a middleman like expedia or travelocity.

Hmmm. That particular flight is only available through Travelocity and the like. There is a Cathay Pacific that goes through Hong Kong, about a 3 hour layover, and $100 more. Maybe that's worth the difference?

Definitely go with Cathay Pacific and it will cost only $100 more plus Hong Kong airport is much nicer tand Taipei.

I would also go with Cathay Pacific. And buy the ticket directly from the Cathay Pacific website.

Well, now CathayPacific is proving problematic with arrival times. Pickup times are between 8 and 6. Is buying through Orbitz on China Airlines really not smart? The China Airlines flight is perfect timing and turning out to be lots less expensive...but layover is Taipei and ticket only through Orbitz.

what kathie said to you is sage advice... if the layover does not work, china would take care of her with a reschedule but only when bought from them..

I don't see it as an issue, if you can't find the same fare directly with China Airlines (CI). Sure, HKG is nice and all, but CX's coach isn't really worth spending that much money and time over CI. And some planes still have that shell coach seat that doesn't recline (only slide down).

Okay. Last question about airlines. Eva Air---Is it comparable to Cathay Pacific? Timing seems good. Once again, much less expensive on cheaptickets, but we will buy from the airlines.Any thoughts?

Eva Air is very good. ANd they have a premium economy option that is a very good deal.
