travel agent issue in Myanmar

Avoid this travel agent Grand Lotus Travel in Yangon, Myanmar if you are traveling to myanmar. The travel agency short changed us on our trip, did not deliver on the commitments made and gave wrong descriptions to the hotels We were staying in.

They made a offer to give a balloon ride in bagan then denied it completely. We have six written quotes which they stated meant nothing as the last email attachment did not include it. This attachment came one week prior to the start of the trip, with no reference to the missing item being highlighted or to the fact that it was missing. This was after full deposits were made six weeks earlier.

Hotel in inle was described as being on the water and after a 45 minute boat ride. It certainly was near water but turned out to be near a canal drain.

Airport Taxi pick up was promised but it took six weeks to resolve the issue that a couple of tour members were arriving on different flights.

Other issues were resolved after much negotiations, not a pleasant issue when in holiday.

Did we loose money on the tour; not really except for the missing balloon ride but the headache was there when you face issues during a trip in a foreign country.

Travel agency was recommended by a friend from Europe.

Even the promise to pick up at the airport was turned into a never ending saga.

On the positive side their tour guides in bagan and yangon were excellent, personable and a reliable source of info and guidance. Pity they work with a travel agent that does not know the meaning of delivering on its promises.

Since they ask for payments in advance one has no recourse for broken promises
