If there's more than one of you, and you're traveling with more than just a carry-on, just take a taxi. There are shared taxis ('airport bus') but the cost for two people is close to the cost of a regular taxi, and you have to wait for them. The train is really only practical if you're traveling light.
Taxis are cheap and easy from the airport. In town, I use the MRT and rarely take a taxi. It's a great system - clean, frequent, air conditioned.
The EZ link card can be purchased from the main MRT stations and bus interchanges. This can be used for travel on the MRT and on buses.

Take a taxi. There are from 10,000-15,000 of them depending on what taxi driver you talk to. So, it's easy to get one...especially from the airport.
What I do is while I'm waiting for my luggage, I go to the exchange window near the baggage claim area and get some money. Then by the time I've finished with that, the luggage has arrived and then I head for the taxi line up which is highly orderly and efficient. Happy Travels!
