Transfer between Hong Kong Int'l Airport and Shenzhen Airport

I would be grateful for advice on the most efficient way of travelling from Hong Kong Airport (arriving from Manila) to Shenzhen airport as I will be travelling with a friend and we have to make a same day flight connection to Beijing with 2 suitcases each. Is there a airport shuttle, coach, train or other handy transportation link between the two airports or would a taxi be preferable?

On our way back we will cross from Shenzen and overnight in Hong Kong before catching a flight to Los Angeles so the time constraints will not be as acute.

Three main ways:

1. Ferry between HKG and SZX. It is down to only 6 departures a day, run by CKS. Second timetable on this page:

http://www.cksp.com.hk/eng/skypier/timetable/main.html

You go to the ferry desk BEFORE Hong Kong immigration to get your tickets, and you will NOT go through HK immigration.

2. Coach. You go through HK immigration, baggage claim and customs; and there are several operators for coaches to mainland China but you want to Trans-Island that uses the Shenzhen Bay Crossing into China and not one that uses Huanggang.

2nd to last timetable on this page:

http://www.trans-island.com.hk/eng/china-line_xgj.htm

Coach via Shenzhen Bay departs every :45, from 7:45a to 6:45p.

3. Private car/van. Trans-Island and one of the other coach companies also have private car or shared car service. Cost a bit more, of course, but you don't need to get off at the border at all. I am not sure about exact cost, but I think HK$1,000 for two of you may be possible; or if there are others in the car/van, it can be even less per person.

Thanks a million, rkkwan, for a very comprehensive reply. I guess we will need to take a taxi to Shenzhen airport when we get off the coach or ferry. Are they about equidistant from the airport?

If you take the ferry, there's a free connecting bus that meet the ferry.

If you take the coach from HKG, they drop you off right at the SZX terminals.

rkkwan or anybody else who knows, would you please advise how much time I should budget for crossing over from HKG to SZX terminals using the three methods you suggested? I don't want to end up booking a flight out of Shenzhen that leaves before I get there! Many thanks for your help.

The ferry itself takes about 50 minutes. Then you will go through Chinese immigration. Don't know how long you may need to wait for the free shuttle, but it should be a <10 minute ride to terminal.

The coach should take about 1:30 from HKG to SZX, including the wait time at the border.

Using a car service will cut perhaps 15-20 minutes or so.
