These boots are made for walking... trek from Paro to Thimphu

Has anyone made the trek from Paro to Thimphu in Bhutan? I have problem feet, tried over-the-ankle boots for first time in 20 years with no luck (bone spurs in ankle). Want to avoid custom boots, but DW be miserable.

Says it used to be old mule track which means to me that it could be a pretty wide and solid trail in which I could get by with hiking shoes not boots. But again it might not be?

Thanks for any thoughts you can offer.
