The Sukhothai, Bangkok. Any experiences please.

We had been pretty much set on Oriental for our next Bangkok visit, but have been sent a special offer on The Sukhothai.
Anyone have experience of this hotel.......we are tempted.

We stayed there once 4/5 years ago and enjoyed it. good location in the embassy district and a great modern thai restaurant, Celadon. As I remember the rooms were spacious and more modern/minamalist than some deluxe hotels in town. TOTALLY different experience from The Oriental. Nice choice to have!!

I wish they'd send me an offer. Very, very nice place with serene/elegant surroundings and great service. Would go back more often but rarely find deals

the description above is quite correct about minimalistic...i think one drawback is the location....its on sathorn in the heart of the business district with hi-rises, etc...its is a low rise...

it can't compare with phi phi...

the food is excellent in celedon, but a bit expensive...

I haven't stayed there, Leigh, but have visited. It looks lovely, but I'm not fond of the location. It does seem more like a business hotel, but the service is excellent and the atmosphere is very Thai. Do report back to us on it.

I'm like Kathie. I've not stayed there, but it looks really lovely. The location would be a turn-off for me.
