Thanks.. we're off on Tuesday! Singapore and Malaysia
Just want to thank all whose advice I have tried to incorporate the best I could once we made the decision to go, (which was not too long ago!)
The one point I totally agree with now, but was not 100% convinced of this wise advice before, is that one must go slowly in Malaysia.
There were so many other places I wanted to see along the way, but wihtout a car.. seems too time consuming. We will go back to see other types of more exotic landscapes some other time.
Travel seems to take so much longer than I expected.. and we ARE flying twice when I assumed we would do a bus or train! All the advice just fell into place once I got into train schedules and bus routes, etc..
In a nutshell:
In and out of Singaore to see our son. Two nights at beginning,three at end.
Train to KL.
Three nights KL at Sheraton Imperial. Pay 2 stay 3.
Fly to Penang
5 nights Penang at beach. plan to go to the marine park one day and spend time in georgetown. (Couldn't get a hotel in town these dates)
Fly back to SIN. 3 nights. then back to spain.
I will write a short report when back.
It has been fun planning but a bit hectic as many buses and trains were sold out so we turned some things around.
Thanks again, and am anxious to try some of the great restaurants you all have posted on other threads.

it sounds as though this is one continuous eating spree! Can't wait!
i have PAGES of notes to organize, and not enough meals to try even the smallest list of "MUST EAT AT...." places!

you will love the imperial...
make sure you take the tour of petronas towers...the hotel has a free shuttle there in the early AM...take it and get into line early...it moves fast if you are there early...
