Thailand honeymoon in August

Hello! This is my first post, but I have read through many previous posts =)

We are planning our honeymoon for August of this year. We have anywhere between 2-3 weeks to spend on it, and would like to stay under the $10k budget. We love everything that we've seen and heard about Thailand and are dying to visit! We are highly considering it as our honeymoon location (followed by Greece, Italy, France). We would like to relax on beautiful beaches as well as engage in fun activities, do sightseeing, etc.

My biggest concern is the weather in August. I have spoken to several people who visited Thailand and all have cautioned me against going in August. I should note that these individuals all went during peak season and not in the summer.

What are your thoughts? Do you recommend it still? Why or why not? If you do recommend it, could you please provide a sample itinerary that would work during mid-late August?

Thank you so much in advance!!!

If you want to go in August, you ned to choose a beach location on the Gulf of Thailand, such as Koh Samui. The Andaman Sea side (Phuket, Phi Phi, Krabi, etc) will be stormy.

With two weeks, you could make up to three stops, three weeks, four stops. A usual itinerary for two weeks would include Bangkok, Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai and a beach location. If you have three weeks, you might do a side trip to Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

Another option for a honeymoon location would be Bali. August weather is good and it it the high season there

I would also 2nd bali--it is their high season... OR a combo of Bangkok and bali

days 1-6 Bangkok in a lux hotel with a great pool---Peninsula, Anantara Riverside (cheaper), Park Hyatt, St Regis, Conrad

day 7 flt to bali

day 8-14 Ubud area: alam shanti hotel (gangga room preference), four seasons

day 14-19 west coast seminak area: hire a villa

fly home thru Singapore with a 2 days+ stop there

Thank you very much for your replies, Kathie and rhkkmk!

After giving it some more thought and doing additional research, we have decided to visit Thailand next year during peak season (we really want to visit Phuket while we're there). Although I would love to visit Bali, SO is not so keen on it.

We will go to Europe for honeymoon and Thailand next year.

Thank you again!
