I am planning a trip to Thailand and Cambodia (Phnom Penh) . Can you please give me some suggestion of where to stay in Thailand and Phnom Penh. I am looking for a 3 or 3.5 star hotel which has easy access to do sight seeing ( Grand palace, recline buddha, watpo , floating market ect...) plus easy access to night market, food stand and large mall to do some shopping. We are in the mid 50 and not care much about night life . We also thinking about visiting Siem Reap, but unsure if we have enough time. We have 3 full weeks to travel . Thanks you

More information, please. When is your trip? How much per night would you like to spend for hotels?
If you only have enough time for one place in Cambodia, choose Siem Reap.
Besides Bangkok, where else in Thailand do you intend to visit?
In Bangkok if you want easy access to Grand Palace, Emerald Buddha, Wat Po (which is the Reclining Buddha), Wat Arun, etc, then you want to stay on the river where you can take the public water taxis. The new night market is near the river. Many of the biggest and best shopping malls are located convenient to the Skytrain.
Hi Kathie,
I am thinking to go around the end of Oct or November this year. Will it be too soon. I know it is a raining season and wonder if we should go ahead . This is my first trip to explore the area and will be back to visit with our grown sons later. our hotel budget is $75 -$100/night
I have read some information about Skytrain, but unsure how it works exactly . Where to buy skytrain ticket, how to navigate the skytrain system without getting lost . What kind of ticket will work best for us ect. If you can give some easy instructions for how to use the sky train, it will help us a lots . Thanks
If you can wait until November, the weather will be better.
For $75-100 a night, you can get a nice hotel in Bangkok.
The skytrain is very easy. You can buy individual tickets or stored value tickets. I like to buy the tickets good for so many trips, like 10 or 20. There are just two skytrain lines, so navigation is easy. You'll get a skytrain map at the station where you buy your tickets.
If you don't have a guidebook yet, get one now. I also recommend getting the Nancy Chandler map of Bangkok. It will help you get oriented.
i go to thailand anytime after oct 15, but november is better.. hotel prices rise on nov 1..
marriott mayfair, chatrium riverside, novotel, 4 star sheraton, centre point silom, marriott courtyard and ibis are some hotels you might look at..
skytrain is easy and in english. price is based on distance and a machine, in english, sells you the tickets by location..
