Seeking advice on where the most scenic beaches in Thailand are. I'm reading so much about 2 areas: Andaman Coast (Phuket, Ao Phang-nga National Park, Krabi, Phi Phi Islands)
and The Gulf of Thailand (Cha-am & Hua Hin, Ko Samui, Ko Pha-ngan). Which area holds more natural beauty and water-related activities? I'm not necessary on a tight budget but not looking for a back-packer's experience...somewhere in the middle. Safety is a concern because I will be traveling with 2 other women and we are all in our late twenties. While parties are a must, I want to have a slightly upscale feel (no dangerous drug and sex parties please!!). The plan is to spend a few nights in Bangkok, then fly to Phuket, and then take a boat to some of the really pristine and gorgeous islands for an authentic Thai experience. If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

Go to Rhkhk's trip report. He's there now.
When are you going? Do you have a guidebook yet? If not, buy a guidebook, you'll be glad you did.
Note that Cha-Am and Hua Hin are in the same area (on the mainland), but that Koh Samui and Koh Pha Ngan are islands in the Gulf of Thailand.
Thailand is remarkably safe, just use common sense.
You will likely want to be on the Andaman Sea on the Phuket/Krabi/Koh PhiPhi beaches. ALl are beautiful, all have nightlife. You likely want to avoid Patong on Phuket, as it's got a lot os sleaze.
I doubt that you will find Rhkkmk's report to be of much use to you, as they are more interested in quieter beach areas. But there are many trip reports here on Thai beaches. You might use the search box at the top of the page to search for PhiPhi or Krabi, for instance.
Hello

For Gulf of Thailand , Koh Tao is nice there is good for water activities like diving / snorkeling , If you like more natural beauty go to Moo Koh Ang Thong , you can stay at Samui if you like.
Check at this Hotel http://www.citinurbanasamui.com , there is nice location at Chaweng - Bohput beach.
Anyways East coast good to visit during Mid Jan - Mid October for dry season.
For Andaman coast Good to visit there during November - April or May
but the best time is Mid Jan - April , the water is clear ,the corals getting beauty after the monsoon gone.
I would suggest you to visit Surin islands if you planing to stay at Phuket in PK you can stay at Kata or Karon and buy day trip to Koh Racha, Phi Phi for nice place for snorkeling.
have a good trip!
