Looking for quiet beach resort for 3 nights in February. Prefer a villa/cottage with easy access from Bangkok. Trying to avoid party atmosphere-we are in our early 60s. Nice beach is most important.

Easy access to Bangkok sounds like Hua Hin might be a good choice, as it's about a 2 - 2.5 hour drive. But the beaches there are not as nice as the Phuket area.
And if you're willing to consider Phuket, my husband and I (both seniors) loved Mom Tri's Villas Royale. Their largest villa is "to die for". Its my very favorite beach resort in that part of the world. In the Americas its Moroma in Playa del Carmen, in case you know it, for comparison.

my fav but many other options at discounts here.
I also would vote for Mom Tri's Villa Royale. I have not stayed in the same villa that Robbietravels had, but I thoroughly enjoyed the two visits there! I would have to check their web site to be certain of the names of the villas I stayed in... Dhama Rhaksa maybe? It was the 'furthest up the path' from the beach stairway, but it was HUGE HUGE HUGE and service was exceptional in every way. The other villa was just above the main pool. It was smaller than DR was, but the view of the water from the bathtub was a real treat.
If you are looking for a beach villa with easy access to Bangkok, then would suggest Hua Hin or the National Park at 300 Peaks (Sam Roi Yot). Both are a couple of hours from Bangkok by car. Villas in Phuket etc would mean a domestic flight from Bangkok.
We have previously used www.thailandholidayhouse.com to book a villa holiday in Thailand and had an excellent time. The one we stayed in was up north, but I recall them having villas in each of the country's main regions.
Early February by the way is quite cool, with the heat increasing considerably at the end of the month!
