Terryr and Lori plan GTG in Siem Reap on July 7th
We are planning a dinner GTG on Monday, July 7th, in Siem Reap, and invite fellow travelers and Fodorites to join us then! For more additional information, that has prompted this event, you can refer to a separate posting: Terryr's upcoming trip with daughter to SR.
Lori Carlson, Ponheary Ly, Dara and his wife will be some of the people there that evening along with myself, my daughter, and several high school volunteer teachers from the States. Jenni and husband have already expressed an interest.
Sorry, Alison, that our GTG date is not matching with your schedule, but I hope to meet you still before you leave SR...Ponheary and Dara will know my schedule and how to reach me.
Please post a response here should you wish to join us for dinner with names and how many in your party, any other information that you want to give us, and then as the time approaches, please read this posting for more detailed information as to place and time of meeting.
Ponheary and Lori will be our party planners, and the rest of us get to come...how great is that?!
Looking forward to seeing you in Cambodia in July!

As mentioned, Bill and I will definitely be joining you for the GTG. Can't wait to meet you, Lori, etc. Seems like a long time in the future, but I just realized we leave for Thailand and the start of our trip in 2 1/2 weeks! Yippeee!!!!

Glad to hear from those of you who will be visiting Siem Reap and the temples...you're in for a treat!...but sorry that our dates are not connecting. Have a great trip! Enjoy your time with Ponheary, Dara, and Lori!
Gpanda, I'm reading about you on Bob's posting. It sounds like you guys are having a blast in Bali! Thanks for being at our GTG in spirit...and see you in October!

Terry-interchangeable? Not on my worst day. One is light and carefree and Bob is tedious and over-bearing. One is helpful and informative and Bob is useless and boring. One assigns penalties (check with Lori on this) and Bob assigns nothing.

Ponheary insists we give some business to Khmer Kitchen as they have been giving us some good breaks on taking the field trip kids there for lunch and she says "they are very warm to the kids".
Khmer Kitchen has ok food; it's not my personal fave, but Ponheary wants us to "eat what the kids eat". I guess we can just be thankful she's not making us show up at school at 7am for rice and fish gruel.
So, Khmer Kitchen it is, July 7th at 7pm for anyone who wants to join. Headcount as of today is 16.
Look forward to seeing everyone!

7th at 7 - easy to remember! And since we'll be with Ponheary that day she can make sure we get there - lol. I'm beginning to think about what to bring for clothes and such. I'm guessing the lighter the better. Can't wait to see everyone!

Just back from our trip and confirming that I got Lori's message about Khmer Kitchen on 7/7 at 7 PM!
Anyone else who will be in Siem Reap on July 7th who would like to join us?
Looking forward to seeing everyone then in that part of the world!

We are a week away from our GTG in Siem Reap on July 7th and sending out an invitation to new travelers who will be there on that date. You are welcome to join us for an evening of: meeting each other, which will include Lori, Ponheary, and Dara; Cambodian dining at Khmer Kitchen; and fun and a good time! Come meet your fellow travelers and local residents, and let's exchange stories of our travels and experiences in Southeast Asia.
If you are interested, please post on this thread so we can add you to our list of guests that evening.

Just a reminder about the GTG in Siem Reap July 7 at 7pm at Khmer Kitchen. Right now, there are about 18 attendees, (mostly volunteers for the PLF who are here working at the schools)
Dara and Ponheary will be there as well.
Anyone else who finds themselves in town, please drop in!

Best wishes to Terry and all for a lovely dinner GTG this evening. Wish we could be there.
Unfortunately, the only time we will be in Siem Reap this summer doesn't amount to anything -- layover time at the aiport while en route from HCMC to LP.
The pumpkin dish at Khmer Kitchen was memorably delicious, by the way.
Fond regards to Dara, who was such a superb guide with a wonderful driver (Rety), and we really enjoyed meeting Ponheary as well.
