Tata Indigo XL or Toyota Innova?

Thanks to the helpful trip reports, etc. from the folks here on Fodors, I have contacted Ramesh Meena about being our driver for the Agra-Jaipur-Udaipur leg of our trip. There is the option of having either a Tata Indigo (XL--I asked--which means that it has a little more legroom than the standard indigo) or the Toyota Innova. It will just be my husband and me with Ram in the car, but I definitely want to be comfortable, and the price difference is negligible to us. Any thoughts on which car will be more comfortable, safer, less likely to break down, etc.? It seems like we'll be in the car for significant periods of time, so I want to choose wisely! Many thanks for your advice.

Persoanlly, I'd vote for the Innova. It's more comfortable and, by putting you up higher, you can see more.

I've never been in the Indigo, but the Innova is quite comfortable and bigger than a lot of other cars on the road. It seats 8 total.

According to the comparison site below, the Indigo seats 5 and is quite a bit smaller than the Innova. You might ask which will be newer (better AC?), but I'd think they are equally reliable.

Hands down. the Innova!!! I've traveled in Ambassadors, Indigos (tho not specifically the Indigo 5)and Innova. No comparison for comfort, and more important, once you see Indian roads, you'll be glad for the safest possible mode of transport.
As Kathie said, you'll also see more, which is big draw of traveling by car.
You can recline the seats easily in the Innova for comfort, should you want to snooze on a long drive (although with the sites outside the car window, it's nigh impossible).'I'm sure the price will be more for the Innova--but it is worth it.

Indigo is a small car....Innova is a mid-size SUV.
Go with Innova for comfort and roominess...and it puts you up higher for better view.
