i have been having clothes made in bkk for over 10 years.. they last fine.

the key to having clothes made that will please you is to have several fittings-- not just one.

make sure everything feels right. try on pants with shoes not flip flops.

specify everything you want for details: pen pockets, cuffs, monograms, top stitching details, extra reinforcement at pockets, non-slip waistband, extra belt loops, size of beltloops....etc

i find they want to make pant legs too tight.

choose the color of your coat linings. ask for good quality.
ask for the best quality wools.

DO NOT FALL FOR THE PACKAGES: 2 jackets, 3 pairs of pants, 3 shirts, 3 ties in 24 hours for $299... it will be shit.

the best tailor is located on sukhumvit rd at the nana skytrain station. his shop is about 3 doors to the right of the Landmark hotel. victor is his name. the shop is called something like suriwongse???

I have used Enlever Ses Vetements several times, and have had a good experience every time. Louis is from the U.S., so speaks fluent English and makes very high-quality suits.

Though I am having a problem Jack at Monte Sarto a very good tailor sending me additional suits "made to order" everything I have had made while there was on 3 visits has been first rate. You need to tell him you want the lapels, button holes and suit pockets to be hand stitched, that you do not want the lapels glued as many tailors and that you want 150 Superfine 100% (not mixed with polyester) from Canali, Sherry & Holland mills. Suits will run you you $375 for 1 but if you have 2-3 made he should charge ~$350/suit. These would sell in the US for $1500-$1800. But be prepared for a first fitting thatvtakes 90 minutes including selectiong fabric, a second visit 24-36 hours lare and a third visit 24 hours later. I had him ship the suits to my home on a future date so as not to carry them with us as we ventured for 10 more days in Asia. He was willing to split the $90 shipping 50/50.
If you go just ask him "where is Stan's jacket? maybe I will get my made to order that I requested though I have not been in Thailand for 2 years.

Stan,
There is no suit made from Holland and Sherry fabric in bangkok for $375. And you certainly did not buy a 150 Superfine suit for that price! Anyone offering you a "wool/cashmere blend" is also not telling the truth. Just look at the price of wool and cashmere on line. Check out:

just because labour is cheap in Thailand doesn't mean that good fabrics are! Good fabrics are imported so they are still going to cost european prices!!!

I would not think H&S would be available either but with his several trips to Europe earlier this year one way or the other he managed. A friend was there and fornunate to catch him in BK and had 2 suits made with H&S material. Neiman marcuss Mens Dept.had the same material in a sprt jacket of one of the 2 suits.
That does not excuse his not responding to honoring an unrelated commitment to me.
