Has anyone taken the optional Mt Everest flight on the SmarTours/Friendly Planet India and Nepal tour? If so, can you tell me the per person cost, how long was spent flying past/around the mountain, and if it was worth it?
Thanks.

We will be taking a private tour similar to Smar Tours. We were told the flight would be $100.00. I assume it is a standard price.??? Personally, I won't spend it if it's just looking out at a snow covered mountain. I might reconsider if we are able to land and step out on Mt. Everest.
We're taking this trip the last 2 weeks in February 2007 and have read up on all the health tips. If you've taken this particular trip does the Tour Director offer advice/info about restaurants for lunch and dinner on our own that are clean, reasonable and convenient? Can restaurant tips would be appreciated. Irv
retsel4 - no you don't 'land and step out on Mt Everest'. You simply fly over a low level area of the mountain. Helicopters can't fly anywhere near the top, or even much above base camp, because the air is so thin.
I have friends who took this trip 2 years ago, and were disappointed by the helicopter excursion.
