Singapore Things to do when a lone traveller
Hi,
I am a 42 year old male looking to travel to Singapore for about 5 days. As I will be on my own, can anybody suggest any quick tours or activities I could do so I am not doing everything on my own, love meeting people so would be nice to do activities with other people.
Thanks for your suggestions.
Cheers
Jeff

What do you like to do at home? Do it in Singapore. For instance, I love bookshops and there are English bookshops in Singapore, large and small. I go there and especially in the small one I like there are people to talk to. Same with tea. There's one tea shop in particular I like. I drink tea, buy some, and talk to the staff as I do. Just 2 examples. Find places there to engage in activities you love and you'll find like-minded people.

One place I really enjoyed was Pulu Ubin, a small island off of Singapore. You can take the MRT most of the way, then a taxi. There is a boat to the island (about 5 minutes) then you can hike or rent bikes once there. It was a lot of fun, and like any hiking thing, people tend to socialize. Try to go at a low tide, so you can see into the tidepools when on the over-wter walkway.
One thing I've been wanting to do is this:

Several friends said it was tons of fun. It is only offerred certain nights, so check before you go. ( I'm always there on the wrong days!)
You can also wander along Boat key and stop for drinks or dinner at one of the many bars, pubs and restaurants. Lots of singles hanging out there.
If you eat at hawker stalls, just ask food questions and you will get lots of conversation. S'Porians love to talk about their food.

Go out walking, especially around the river in the old historical quarter. Go out eating at places like Boat Quay, Clarke Quay. Take a bus to Melaka for a couple of days, it's lovely. Five days won't be enough.

Greetings Jeff and advance congratulations on spending time in our sweet city-state of Singapore. Very happy for you; should be a joyous holiday.
As wisely noted above, opportunities abound for meeting others through a variety of activities. Ever since making SIN my (our) primary residence for work and residence, have truly appreciated the ease of social interaction.
You already have some excellent suggestions. Should you make an early - and perhaps romantic - acquaintance, will propose tea or Champagne at my old Singapore business travel hotel, the Four Seasons. Great friends and staff at that property; last visit was ~ three weeks back, and fine as ever. Mind you, our Singapore is blessed with Raffles, other grand hotels, and some truly wondrous roof top bar venues (which I encourage you to visit), but should you find yourself in the vicinity of the Four Seasons, nothing to lose by checking out her public areas. I'll always love that place.
For your departure from SIN, allow sufficient time to experience my favourite airport in the world, Changi. Most recent Changi visit for meeting and subsequent trans-pacific business flights was last week; rather decent place for departing - and arriving, which should next occur next Friday. In particular, check out the butterfly and orchid exhibits. (And, should you desire any air travel assistance regarding my primary business and occasional holiday carrier, Singapore Airlines, honoured to help.)
Savour your planning and time in SIN. Warm weekend wishes to you and all from what has been a particularly joyous and productive work week in the San Francisco Bay Area,
