Looking for some Singapore restaurant recommendations, particularly from any residents on the Forum. We have been to Singapore many times over the years and eaten at many hawker stalls and various seafood and other places that we've stumbled across, but this time we'll have our two kids (12 and 9) and my husband's parents (both in late 70s) with us, so will need to go a little more upmarket and avoid anything too spicy or exotic. I'd also like to look at making reservations in advance.
One final request: my husband recalls a memorable meal with crocodile meat many years ago: anyone aware of specific restaurants that still prepare this?
We're staying at Raffles, but happy to get out and about.
Thanks!
Jen

I would first say to look at the following threads on Singapore restaurants:
http://www.fodors.com/community/asia/one-night-in-singapore---need-great-restaurant.cfm
http://www.fodors.com/community/asia/singapore-restaurants.cfm
A little older, but still a lot of goodies on it http://www.fodors.com/community/asia/restaurant-list-for-singapore.cfm and http://www.fodors.com/community/asia/singapore-emerald-hill-stroll.cfm
You might also run a search to see if I missed any more recent posts.
As you probably know, there are several good restaurants in and around the Raffles, so you won’t have to go far if you don’t feel like it.
As you will have your kids with you, things like breakfast at the Singapore Zoo (with or without the orang utan) might be fun. Also consider a trip to the East Coast beaches or Pulau Ubin for a walk/look and a seafood meal (you can rent bikes in both, not sure in the parents would be into that).
I can’t recall in particular any restaurant specializing in crocodile meat, but I believe you can find it at some Chinese restaurants. Was is a Chinese meal your husband recalls? If so, what region (Cantonese? Sichuan?) Was it at a hawker stall or a restaurant? Those things may held narrow down your search. Australian restaurants also serve it.

If you scrolll down the right side, you can look for specific foods, or the Top Ten, or "best of".
oif you want something upmarket and with a lot of variety, try the buffet at the Grand Hyatt. Each station is a different style of food. Clean, Airconditioned, and many of the items are prepared fresh while you wait..
Cicerone, thanks for the links, and also thanks for not berating me about not doing my research before posting ... I'm only a periodic visitor to the Forum, and sometimes forget the form!
