Hi all, I wonder if anyone could let me know what the trendier neighborhoods are in Singapore. I'm hoping to find a short-term apartment in an area that feels a little more residential but is still very accessible to the City.
Thanks!

Cosmouk,
Don't know if you are still checking this thread ...
Before we were transferred to Singapore, my husband and I stayed at Lotus at Joo Chiat (http://www.lotus-sanctuary.com.sg/html/heritage.html) for three months. We liked the area so much that when the company moved us, we decided to rent in the same area.
The Joo Chiat/Katong area is in the east side of Singapore. While it is not central, I personally find it still quite convenient because of how compact Singapore is. It also depends on where your office is. The area is going through some rebirth as a hip heritage location. It has a lot of refurbished shophouses with restaurants and boutiques, etc. There was a Time Out Singapore article about the area a few months back. You may be able to Google it. Another plus is the area's proximity to the East Coast Park.
it also very much depends on your budget.
but i would recommend novena area if you have the budget otherwise ang mo kio/bishan is good
