Singapore Language

I am going to Singapore in a couple of weeks. Never been there before, and I know that most everyone speaks english. However, I do know that some places speak Chinese or a cross between Malay/Chinese. Is there any place online to learn a few words to communicate. I may see about going over to Johor when I am there. I have access to Rosetta Stone, but not sure if that will give me what I want

Don't you worry, you'll get by well enough with English in Singapore and Johor.

Some malay words:

Thank you: terima kasih
Good Morning: selamat pagi
Good night: selamat malam
No: tidak
yes: iya
Good: bagus

Pronounciation are close with Spanish. Pronounce each sylable clearly and as it was written.

Let me know if you have any specific words you want to learn.

Only 14% Singaporean are Malay. I don't think those words can lead you very far. 80% Singaporean are Chinese, if you want to learn some words, try Mandarin.

To clarify what Zheng Yu is saying:
Malays are pretty much regarded as third world people by the Chinese and it is quite a put-down for a Chinese-speaker to be addressed in Malay, a language which they reserve for communication with the serving classes.

Stick to English and you will be fine.

Stick to English but end every sentence with "La" and you will fit right in!
