Singapore hotel for 3 days

Hello! Seeking advice for a hotel stay that will be convenient for exploring Singapore. We'll be arriving at Changi Airport at 1:00 AM on June 10th and departing 3 days later for Hanoi and then on to Bangkok. We are a middle-aged couple and our budget allows for a max of $120.00 USD per night in Singapore. Any recommendations would be much appreciated. I did email 2 hotels asking if we could check in early in the morning but have had no response.

It is very likely that you will be allowed to check in early only if you pay for the night before. US$120 is a minimal budget for Singapore, which is an expensive city. You want to make sure you are near an MRT station to make exploring the city convenient. You might try the YMCA International House. It is well-located.

I too doubt if you can check in after leaving the airport unless you pay for the day before.

As Kathie said Singapore is very expensive. It was rated the most expensive city in the world quite recently. Your other two stops are much cheaper so can you stretch your budget for Singapore?

Alternatively maybe a hotel in Little India might work.

I went to hotels.com and plugged in your dates and price range and found many options so I suggest you try that. You should be able to find something and as Kathie said look for something close to an MRT station.

Good luck!

You will need to pay for your arrival night at most hotels. An early check-in is usually a morning check in, maybe 4 or 5 hours early. Coming in at 2 am is just a late checkin.

One option might be to stay AT the airport when you arrive. For $76 you can stay 6 hours at the Ambassador transit hotel. They are showing rooms available right now on booking.com It is on the airside of immigration, so do not go out through immigration till the next morning, or you won't be allowed back into the secure area. Also, find out at which terminal your incoming flight will be arriving. There are Ambassadors in both terminal 2 or 3.

Staying here would also give you the option of taking the MRT in the morning so you would save the taxi fare at midnight (about $30). An all day tourist train/bus card is about $7.50 or a one trip fare is about $2.

I agree that the YMCA is a good choice. I've stayed here 3 or 4 times. It's in a very convenient location, and the rooms are comfortable. Nothing fancy, but clean and very reasonably priced. Front desk staff very helpful and friendly too.

Another budget friendly hotel I can recommend is the Village Hotel Albert Court. Only a short walk to the MRT and a little more upscale than the YMCA.

At this price range, I would not suggest that you pay for a breakfast plan at your hotel. There are too many wonderful , inexpensive places to eat to have a mediocre buffet at your hotel.

I've stayed at the YMCA International House Hotel a lot since the 90s and have been more than fine with it. It's a regular hotel and is very popular. I'm used to having flights that arrive into Singapore, from L.A., after midnight. You will need to pay for the day before if you want to check in after 1AM, so one extra night. Just let them know that you'll be arriving after 1AM if you decide to stay there.

Happy Travels!

I just went on Expedia and booked the YMCA International House Hotel for $83.12 per night. The total was $ 293.52. Then I got over $19.00 in Expedia points subtracted to bring it to a total of $274.23. This was without breakfast included. Breakfast used to be included in the rate, but breakfast is not a problem as I'll probably just MRT it up to the Four Seasons for breakfast as I like to have my main meal at breakfast. I'll be in and out of Singapore three times on that trip and have booked three different hotels, the other two being the Fours Seasons and a night at the Regents-a Four Seasons hotel. I'll be in Singapore a total of 11 nights.

Happy Travels!

I like the Inn at Temple Street very much, have stayed 2 or 3 times now. Kind accommodating people, attractive rooms with some atmosphere in a good neighborhood in Chinatown, very walkable. Inexpensive by Singapore standards. http://www.theinn.com.sg/
