During my visit to Singapore April 6-13 I want to buy Asian cooking ingredients to take home. I'm especially interested in Japanese food: nori, udon, etc. Even though I am going to Tokyo after Singapore, the food is probaly cheaper here than in Japan due to the crappy yen rate. Where is the best stocked grocery store in town?

For Japanese ingredients, there is a large grocery store in the basement of Isetan, a Japanese owned dept store. at the intersection of Orchard and Scott's Roads. You'll need to be able to recognize some of the products you are looking for, as some of the labels are printed only in Japanese.
For ingredients for Indian cooking (spices, etc.) the wet market in Little India is fantastic. It's called Tekka Market or some people refer to it as KK Market. It's on Buffalo Rd.
For Chinese ingredients, you can find most of the basics in almost any local grocery store (Cold Storage, NTUC etc.) For the more exotic stuff, Chinatown has a great wet market and lots of Chinese medicine halls for interesting dried ingredients for soups and teas.
I did go to Isetan and bought a few things, but the selection wasn't all that good. As it turned out, grocery items in Tokyo were actually relatively cheap, cheaper than Singapore or here at home. So I loaded up-spent over $100 on food.
