Singapore and Indonesia suggestions
Going to Bandung, Indonesia and stopping in Singapore for one night.
I need a hotel in Singapore for around $200 US dollars or less, convenient to airport and where I can expereince "Singapore" in less than 36 hrs.
What places in Bandung offer an opportunity to mingle with the common man?
Any info on the Bosscho Observatory?
Thanks for any help

My personal favorite in Singapore is the Royal peacock Boutique hotel in Chinatown, it's about US$60 a night, there is no pool/gardens but it gives you some character and charm and service is great, if you like that type of hotel, otherwise unless to want to pay top dollar head for places like the Crown Prince to be close to Orchard Road and MRT. I am not a luxury hotel person so my choices would be up to the $120 max range.

$200 will get you a lot in SIN. There are several luxury properties in this price range (Ritz Carlton and Four Season included).
The airport is not near any of the major tourist spots. I would recommend a hotel on Orchard Road (on the MRT line which you can take to other parts of the city and even out to the airport).
Chinatown, Little India (if that is what's it's called), the rain forest park, those are pretty much my recs. SIN is a great food city, so that may top your list of things to do. Shopping, IMO, is not terribly interesting and you get the same stores that you have in the West.

I was living in Indonesia for 3 years and have just returned to the USA. The main thing to see in Bandung is Tankuban Perahu - which is a volcano crater. You can rent a car and driver from the hotel and have him drive you up to the top. You then hire a guide and hike down into the crater - it is quite a beautiful site to see. There is a lot of clothing shopping in Bandung also. There is a good web site: http://www.geocities.com/bandungcity/ which has all kinds of information about the city. You should go to Yogyajarta and see the Borobudur and Prabmanan temple if you have not done so. Have fun!

Hi there!
I was living in Bandung for 6 months before moving to jakarta. Bandung is a small little town with good food and good weather. Tankuban Perahu is a good outing but there are more, depending on what you like to do. Havent been to the observatory but they are open everyday and for more info you can go to their website.
Email me if you want more details:[email protected]
