Singapore

Which is the best time to visit Singapore? We have the option to travel in Sept or April? And what side trips do you recommend?
Thank you Dave Vaughn

Hi Dave: It depends on what you're looking for. Most of the year is 28-32 degrees C. Rain during the monsoon seasons - in Singapore that will be around May, November...

Side trips to Bintan(Indonesia) Island resorts, to Sentosa Island(Singapore) for the pars and water themes...

Singapore weather is the same year round-always 30C. There are some rains in Dec and Apr but nothing you can't do w/o in the heat.

Actually anytime is alright to come over here. Like everyone has mentioned, its pretty much always the heat and humidity weather-type, so pack in those bermudas and short-sleeved tees!
Side trips depending on what kind of transport, the time that you have and what you're looking for.
Something city-like, you can easily take the bus up to Johor Bahru in Malaysia, or even furthur up to Kuala Lumpur.
If you want to relax then Tioman in Malaysia, or as mentioned, Sentosa Island in Singapore or Bintan in Indonesia. Lesser known is the Kusu Island in Singapore as well.. and also Pulau Ubin where there are a handful of residents still living on that island. Its a good place to walk/cycle around and get a feel of abit of nature and their simplistic lifestyle.

go to the botanic gardens right in the middle of the city, probably the closest attraction to any hotel. it has gotten wonderful reviews from tourists and expats there, and the orchid and spice gardens are really excellent. further away but accessible by a direct bus from town are the world-class zoo and night safari just next to each other...you don't have to go to both, just pick one according to your schedule, quite unlike any other zoo i've seen. please don't skip little india unless you've been to india itself, coz it is a marvelous way of seeing, feeling and smelling the culture, plus lotsa nice buys. if u can go to sentosa island which is a 5 minute ferry or cable car or bus ride away, visit the asian culture & festival museum (or something like that, can't remember its name) & the history museum adjoining it....very informative and fun place, somewhat like the madam tussauds. also might enjoy the underwater world though it is expensive...skip the volcanic island, ridiculous price for uneventful experience.

We are less than 2 degrees north of the equator... which explains the all year round "summer" like weather.

Few better times that maybe more eventful months includes the following .....in case you want to rethink the timing of your visit.

January/February: New Year (English, Chinese/Malay - all different dates)

June/July : The Great Singapore Sale! (Great bargains)

August 8: National Day (Independence Day)

December: Any time during the month, festive spirit in the air with lots of lights and sale.
